I haven't post article in my blog for a long time already because of my laziness...
After exams, I went to Phuket with my ESP friends and had a lot of fun, but spent a lot of money too. I spent around RM 1K for that trip including air ticket and accommodation. Later I went to Cameron Highlands with my ex-classmate from secondary school. Now I am helping my engineering faculty to do RAG. Very tired and hot...

15th CEO Unplugged

Today around 6pm I went to Business School to attend a talk organized by Bizard. The talk I went to is the 15th CEO Unplugged with guess speakers: Mr. Jonathan Larsen (CEO of Citibank Singapore Limited) and Mr. Ron Sim (CEO of OSIM International Limited).

Mr. Jonathan actually have a degree in English literature and Arts. But it turns out that he loves to do business and went on to developing his business skills. He put a lot of effort on learning business as he has no business background. Yes, I also have to put in a lot of effort too if I want to do business as I am an engineering student and I was taught to think like a scientist and engineer. As my math professor once said, the people from arts hard to understand what is A=2 as their thinking was being shapen that A is an alphabet not a figure.

Mr. Ron Sim once sell Hokkian prawn noodle at the age of 9 without getting paid but receives commissions for every bowl of noodle sold. He was born poor, but that did not stop him from earning big money. I will always respect those who build his own empire by his own will, with low or no capital to start off. He touches on what is your inspiration and aspiration for doing what you are doing now. What do you live for? For GOLD? For Glory? He also jokes about the 3 bad Gs you do not want to live for: live for Girls, live for Guys and live for Gays. (very funny this one) So what do you want in your live? Hmm.... I haven't think of that questions seriously for myself. But I will start getting my brain to work soon enough. He said business got 2 types of models: trader's model and builder's model. Trader's model is to buy and sell to gain capital. Once enough money is gathered then is the time to switch to builder's model that is to build a brand with high value with the help of experience. He encourages start-ups to be passion, be brave to make decision (if a mistake was being made, learn from it), do what you believe is right, and have a positive mind set.

I cannot write more because I didn't note much of what they are discussing.
What is installed for us in the future you will never know but one thing is for sure, that is you can do what you like, what you want, what you believe in the present.

Animal Cruelty

A few days ago, i received an e-mail concerning the animal cruelty in China.
After i saw that short video, i want to puke at first and was shock about the way they peel the skin out of an animal. How can they be so cruel? for money? Who wants to make money out of cruelty?
Animals in China do not have law to protect them...STOP them who ever they are that are doing this to the animals!!!
Be aware of what 'skin' you are wearing...maybe is one of them.

AIESEC

Yesterday I was attending a seminar in SMU about MENA organized by AIESEC.
AIESEC is the world's largest student organization that exist in over 800 universities in 100 countries.AIESEC serves as a platform to discover and develop young people's potential. In mid-2007, MENA (Middle East and North Africa) was established under AIESEC. AIESEC is currently promoting MENA-Singapore exchange Programme. This programme is a joint project between AIESEC in Singapore, AIESEC in MENA and Singapore business Federation(SBF). The aim is to promote and facilitate internship exchange between Singapore and MENA countries, that is, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt, Qatar, Morocco, Tunisia, and Jordan.

After the September 11 incident, the economics in Middle East started to raise steadily because the oil producing countries in Middle East starting to invest back in their own countries and not US. Take Dubai for instance, that place is very developed now and is a good starting place for business. The population in Dubai are mostly Russians, Pakistan, and India surprisingly. A joke that i heard during the seminar is that once Dubai did not have rains in long period and everyone in Dubai gathered and pray for rain. The next day the sky rain heavily but that happen back in Pakistan and India because mostly the people pray in Dubai are Pakistanis and Indian. Oh ya... in Dubai there are no taxes to pay for.

Qatar and Abu Dhabi is the place for you if you wish to make money because there are no entertainment in that place. Saudi Arabia also is a nice place to earn tons of money because the accommodation and groceries there are cheap. Can save a lot working in that places.

Tourism is the next best thing in Middle East after the oil. The government there are starting to get into this section. Dubai have a 7 star hotel and Palm Island. The government now is planning to build another International Airport there. I wish to visit Palm Island someday if i have the money. The entertainment there is very exotic. Nice to visit.
